I retired from Drew University where I was professor of Russian for 29 years, having previously taught at Columbia and Rutgers. I'm still very active in my field, having written and edited three books since retirement, plus articles and conference papers. Over the years at Drew I took groupds of students to Russia 13 times and have many friends in both Russia and Ukraine. I visited Ukraine in 2016 as a recipient of a Mellon Grant to study art in the time of war. I'm currently a member of a committee run by the Macmillan Center at Yale engaged in supporting Russian studies programs in the NE region.
